GRABBER
General Grabber is a sports all-season tire. This range of tires is specially designed for use on off-road vehicles, primarily crossovers.
The rubber featured in the GRABBER range delivers optimum performance on asphalt and off-road surfaces. The specially designed tread contact surface structure ensures optimal traction with the road surface in all weather conditions. Moreover, these tires exhibit excellent dynamic and speed performance.
About the manufacturer
Grabber tires are manufactured by General Tire, the oldest American brand that was founded back in 1915. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of a wide range of car tires and related products. Today the General Tire brand operates under the control of the German multinational manufacturing company Continental AG. The joint work 222Ghas benefited the quality of the finished tires.
The rubber featured in the General Grabber range is manufactured in factories in the United States and Europe. In domestic stores, the Grabber line is represented by tires manufactured at a plant in the Czech Republic. Regardless of where the tires of this brand are made, they are distinguished by high quality and excellent performance.
Main characteristics
Grabber tires are positioned as all-season tires with the ability to operate in various weather conditions. The versatility of operation is achieved by a special tread pattern and rubber composition. The manufacturer positions these tires as the optimal solution for heavy and powerful passenger cars. Rubber operation is allowed at speeds up to 140 mph.
Due to the peculiarities of the tread, these tires are not adapted for use in serious off-road conditions. But on asphalt, this pattern and thread configuration provide excellent grip and the resulting benefits.
Benefits of Grabber
- Predictable and safe driving in all weather conditions. Thanks to the special tread pattern, the tire adheres perfectly to the ground, and when driving in the rain, it drains water perfectly, which excludes the possibility of aquaplaning.
- Excellent handling. The tire is characterized by high directional stability. That is, the car, as if on rails, goes in a straight line and enters corners. Excellent handling is ensured at both low and high speeds.
- Better start from a standstill due to good grip of the tread and road surface. This advantage is especially true when starting at a traffic light.
- Reduced braking distance due to optimal grip of the tread and road surface.
- Abrasion resistance. Due to a special patented compound containing silica inclusions, the tire does not wear out for a long time. It is a practical rubber that saves you money.
- Light weight of rubber. The Grabber is a lightweight tire that offers lower fuel consumption.
- Acoustic comfort. Thanks to the specially designed tread pattern, the tire creates less noise and vibration when it comes into contact with the road surface. This is important when traveling long distances.
- A wide range of standard sizes. Thanks to this, you can select and purchase tires for most modern crossovers and SUVs. Tires are available in a dozen sizes and diameters from 15 to 24 inches.
About the Grabber design
The appearance of high-speed and powerful crossovers on public roads requires special new tires. Such tires, due to their design, were supposed to provide certain advantages in the daily operation of the car. These new tires are Grabber. The American manufacturer General Tire has introduced a number of design innovations in this rubber line. Among the innovations, we especially note:
The thinner, but tighter weave of the reinforcing wire, which on the one hand makes the rubber stronger, and on the other hand it is lighter.
Grabber tires are designed with a stiffer center rib and more elastic sidewalls. This ensures better directional stability and stability when driving at high speeds.
Another design feature of the Grabber is the special shape of the tread. The tread grooves are deep, diagonally directed. The deep tread provides optimum grip at the same time and efficiently drains water on both sides. This is the design feature that provides a more confident start.
The sloping arrangement of the tread grooves allows the tire to be used in all weather conditions. Effective drainage of water on the sides of the center section prevents aquaplaning.
Attention: the tread pattern is directional, and therefore, when mounting, the tires are located on the rim in accordance with the arrow indicator.
More about the tread
The Grabber tread features a symmetrical V-pattern design. Deep grooves diverge from the center towards the side areas. As previously mentioned, this pattern provides resistance to aquaplaning, improves handling, reduces braking distances, and reduces the level of noise produced. In addition to the listed advantages, we note that thanks to the special tread pattern, the tire cleans itself. This is an obvious plus if the vehicle is used outside the city.
About the composition of Grabber
Grabber tires are formulated for high durability and good grip. For these purposes, the base composition, in addition to the rubber base, includes polymer and silica inclusions.
Silica inclusions provide a high degree of friction on the running surface of the tires. Polymer additives make Grabber tires more abrasion resistant. A certain content of rubber provides the tires with the required degree of elasticity over the entire operating temperature range.

I use Grabber tires mainly in the city, occasionally I go to my cabin outside the city. The car is four-wheel drive, so in the summer it is well controlled both on dry land and in slush. Really low noise from inside of the car and less vibration on the steering wheel. Among the shortcomings, it becomes low handling on the ice, but this is a problem for all-season tires if the temperature outside is below minus 10. On very loose snow, slippage is also possible.

Acoustic comfort at altitude. Pleased with a little wear during active use. I’ve used these tires all four seasons in the city and outside the city. After 30 thousand miles the tread depth was approximately 3.4mm. This is a great result. Light side impacts on curbs do not harm these tires at all.

My Opel Antara, weighing almost two tons, rides like a passenger car on these tires. We move briskly from the traffic light and freeze well in front of the traffic light. The car now enters corners as if on rails. Well, the price of these tires is within reasonable limits. In general, it is a practical choice for those who are counting money.
Verdict
Grabber tires are quality all-season tires for urban and light off-road use. We recommend these tires for most modern crossover models. The entire line of this rubber is the best combination of price and quality.
