BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A is an all-season tire with increased rigidity, which is positioned by the manufacturer as well as a reliable winter tire. Designed to meet the needs of jeep and pickup truck owners who want to be sure of their safety while driving at any time of the year. This high-strength model offers excellent all-season traction on any road and long service life.

Tires BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A are manufactured according to the technology of racing off-road tires, so it is not at all surprising that the "chip" of this model is its high durability. Thanks to the proprietary CoreGuard technology, the all-terrain model of the second generation perfectly resists various kinds of damage (including impacts and cuts) that can cause tire delamination.

This model uses COREGUARD technology, carried over from the BFGoodrich Baja T / A KR2 rally-raid racing tires, and makes the tire more durable. The essence of this technology lies in the increased thickness of the sidewalls and the use of a special compound in its manufacture, which is characterized by increased resistance to any mechanical stress and reduces practically to zero the possibility of pinching, which can cause tire rupture.

To prove this, the manufacturer even experimented, throwing an All-Terrain T / A from a height of 2 miles onto the rocky terrain of the North American state of Utah.

After landing, the tire was installed on a waiting "three-wheeled" SUV, which after a forced pit stop calmly continued its confident movement over rough terrain. Not surprisingly, BFG is now boldly claiming to be the toughest of all off-road tires.

But the point, as you know, is not only about technology. For example, sidewall damage is prevented by using an additional layer of rubber compound, as well as by powerful shoulder blocks designed to repel objects that can damage the integrity of the tire.

Features of the structure of All-Terrain T / A

The high durability of the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A is due, among other things, to the optimized tread design. It provides not only good endurance of the tire on a gravel road, but also even distribution of pressure over the contact patch, and, consequently, even wear of the tread, and long-term operation of the tire.

Advanced repulsive design

The good cross-country ability of this aggressive all-season model is ensured by the features of the tread structure. So, large interconnected blocks of the central part help the tire to quickly self-clean from water and dirt in the contact patch, thereby guaranteeing the stability of the tire's performance properties and the safety of directional stability. Self-locking sipes applied to the surface of these blocks increase traction in the snow. Lateral "serrated" lugs improve maneuverability in rocky terrain, deep snow, and mud.

Tire and Rubber Industry Association of Canada TRAC confirms that the BFG All-Terrain T / A meets all requirements for tires designed for severe winter. According to its data, the previous model * of the line loses against its background. The second-generation model has a 19% increase in grip on snow, but in mud, this indicator "grew" by 10%.

"Winter" marking

Last but not least, the All-Terrain T / A rubber compound also contributes to the overall durability of the model, as it was borrowed from the Baja T / A KR2 off-road tire, which has repeatedly brought victory to the participants of the famous Baja 500 race.

Perhaps the only drawback of the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A is the fuel "gluttony" of the model, however, almost all all-terrain tires sin this, and this fact should not be very surprised. There are no ideal tires in the world, and manufacturers always sacrifice some indicators to "extol" the most significant ones.

Reinforced sidewall construction

Like the previous generation tire, this model is equipped with reinforced sidewalls. But in this case, its rigidity has been further increased thanks to the use of CoreGuard technology. It has previously proven itself successfully on racing tires. Its essence lies in the increased thickness of the sidewalls and the use of a special compound in its manufacture, characterized by increased resistance to any mechanical stress.

Longer service life even off-road

As you know, one of the “signature” features of BFGoodrich off-road tires is their excellent endurance even in the most difficult operating conditions. In this regard, this model is not only no exception but also manifests this property more clearly. This was achieved due to several technical solutions at once. One of them is a significant increase in the tread width, due to which the load on the contact patch is more evenly distributed, thereby reducing the likelihood of uneven wear. This feature is further enhanced by the optimized shape, size, and position of the blocks. In addition, there are special elements in the grooves between them that prevent stones from getting stuck, which also helps to increase the life of the tire.

Excellent traction and grip on any surface

The tread pattern of this tire is replete with numerous blocks, which, to achieve excellent performance on any type of surface, have a complex configuration. The significant height of these elements and the location at a great distance from each other improve the traction characteristics on earthy soils with high moisture content.

In turn, the aggressive design of the shoulder areas, some of which are located on the sidewalls, provides the tire with confident behavior on rocky surfaces. In addition, the staggered block arrangement and numerous 3D sipes allow the tire to demonstrate a good grip on icy and snowy roads.

Main features of the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A tire

  • Reinforced sidewalls made of a compound resistant to mechanical stress provide reliable protection on the road;
  • Long service life and reliability in operation even in the most difficult conditions are provided by a very strong carcass, wear-resistant rubber compound, and increased tread width;
  • Excellent performance on all types of surfaces, thanks to an optimized open design containing a large number of staggered polygonal blocks.

COREGARD TECHNOLOGY FOR GREATER STRENGTH

  1. The increased thickness of the rubber compound in the sidewalls allows for greater strength.
  2. Unique massive blocks, located in the shoulder area and passing to the tire sidewall, resist damage to the most vulnerable areas.

TECHNOLOGIES TO IMPROVE WEAR RESISTANCE

  1. The new rubber compound reduces the level of abrasive wear when driving on aggressive rocky surfaces.
  2. Optimal pressure distribution in the contact patch ensures long-term and even tire wear on asphalt surfaces.

TECHNOLOGIES FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE

  1. Shoulder block walls improve traction on rocky and muddy surfaces, especially when riding under reduced pressure, and variable block spacing provides better maneuverability and flotation.
  2. Additional splitters between the blocks prevent the "blurring effect" of the tread.
