Toyo Tire USA Corp. unveiled the new Extensa A / S II all-season tire in North America for passenger cars, minivans, crossovers, SUVs, and pickups. The tire replaced the Extensa A / S released in 2009. According to the company, in comparison with its predecessor, the new A / S II demonstrates better braking performance, handling on wet surfaces, and fuel efficiency.

In addition, the new product offers an expanded range of sizes, covering more than 80% of the vehicle market. Improved performance and extended warranty make the Extensa A / S II the ideal tire for dealers and end-users.

“The Extensa A / S II is the latest addition to the Extensa family, designed for those looking to save money on a new set of tires,” said Toyo. "And the Extensa are of the same high quality as all the other tires in our brand."

The manufacturer claims that the Toyo Extensa A / S also offers improved wet braking and handling properties, as well as improved fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation.

The model belongs to all-season tires, that is, in regions with mild winters, it can be used without seasonal replacement, which is very convenient and economical. In the Toyo product line, the novelty will replace its predecessor, the Extensa A / S model. She received an improved composition, as well as an updated tread pattern. Engineers have improved the performance of tires on wet asphalt, increased their fuel efficiency. The model can be called universal, since all the main characteristics in it are well balanced, have approximately the same efficiency indicator. The tread pattern of the Extensa A / S II consists of three central ribs, which are separated from each other and the shoulders by wide drainage grooves. They do a good job with water drainage, prevent aquaplaning, and make the wet grip more reliable. The presence of sufficiently large transverse grooves in the central part and the shoulder area contributes to the capture of snow masses when driving on small freshly fallen snow.

The swoosh grooves and notches, as well as undulating sipes on the center rib, create enough traction edges to shorten the braking distance on dry asphalt and ensure tight contact with the wet road. The handling of a model of this class, of course, is far from the characteristics of UHP tires, but its level is quite enough to carry out various maneuvers. The Extensa A / S II tires are quiet enough that they will most likely appeal to those who love a comfortable ride. Good ride comfort combined with excellent wear resistance make the model optimally suited for use in modern cities. These tires are ideal for a family car.

Toyo Extensa A / S II is a touring tire for passenger cars, minivans, SUVs, crossovers, and light trucks, designed for year-round use. They are characterized by good handling and short braking distances on wet roads, low rolling resistance, and ride comfort. All-season new for 2019.

The Toyo Extensa A / S II tires have replaced the Extensa A / S. Optimization of the tread pattern and compounding allowed the developers to improve the behavior of the second generation tires on wet surfaces, as well as to improve the fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor.

Performance ratings, on a scale of 1 (worst) to 5 (best), in 0.5-point increments, compared to Toyo tires in their respective categories

Four wide main grooves quickly evacuate water for improved wet traction. The improved rib design of the Extensa AS II creates more uniform contact pressure for improved braking and handling.

Wavy sipes minimize uneven wear to extend tread life, while also contributing to a smoother ride and lower noise levels, explains a Shina Guide technician. In addition, they are focused on improving handling on dry and wet asphalt.
