Grabber AT2

The General Tire Grabber AT 2 all-season tire is specially designed for SUVs. Just look at this aggressive tread and it will become clear to you that this is real off-road rubber and only for off-road. The tread pattern is ideal for riding on gravel, sand, snow, and mud. However, these tires perform well on asphalt as well.

Real off-road tires

In America, off-road vehicles have always been popular - these are civil and army SUVs, pickups, and light trucks. And all these cars require high-quality durable rubber with excellent grip. Therefore, specialized American stores are full of off-road tires and their range is replenished with new models every year. The Grabber AT2 is exactly the model that the American market lacked so much.

Rubber maker General Tire claims this model is a technological breakthrough as its off-road performance is beyond praise. In order to make such bold statements, the company's specialists tested these tires not only at the stand but also in the field. The tire was installed on the most common off-road vehicles and tested in the harsh American off-road conditions in different climates.

Grabber AT2, among other things, has been tested on Mercedes Benz G-Class and is officially recommended for installation on these vehicles. Again, this tire model is one of the most exported to the European market.

In the new tires, General Tire has incorporated decades of experience in the manufacture of off-road tires. Besides, the Grabber AT 2 uses fundamentally new technologies that have not been used by the brand before. As a result, the rubber provides the comfort of movement on dry and wet asphalt, and at the same time demonstrates excellent handling on off-road and on snow.

Features of Grabber AT 2

  • Innovative composition. The first and most important feature is the special composition. The special rubber composition makes these tires as tough as possible, resistant to abrasion and cuts, even when driving on gravel. At the same time, the tire provides good grip due to the high friction in the contact patch with the road surface.
  • Tread pattern. Grabber AT2 has a special aggressive tread pattern. This tread is designed with exceptional traction in mind in the harshest conditions and all climates. For superior performance on and off-road, the tread is 5-row. Five rows of symmetrically positioned stud blocks provide excellent ground engagement, and the furrows between them are excellently cleared of dirt. The still-fresh dirt flies out of the gaps when the wheel rotates quickly.
  • Tire reinforcement. The Grabber AT 2 rubber has been specially developed for large and therefore heavy SUVs. Therefore, it is reinforced to avoid deformation and uneven wear of the tread. Due to the presence of metal radial belts, the tire evenly contacts the road surface at any pressure, which means that the tread is worn out evenly. On the sidewalls of the tires, there are metal flanges that prevent wear of the discs when hitting curbs and other obstacles. Again, let's not forget about the metal braid that prevents punctures, which is important since the rubber is tubeless.
  • Performance indicators. Grabber AT 2 tires is manufactured by General Tire. This company equips all of its modern tires with performance indicators. For example, there are wear indicator-colored marks. As you erase them you can understand that the tires need to be replaced. Also, the tires have an indicator of uniformity of wear by these indicators, you can determine whether the wheel needs balancing or not.

Benefits of Grabber AT 2

  • Acoustic comfort. From the inside of the tire, along the perimeter of the central rib, there is a cushion layer of more porous rubber. This layer absorbs and dissipates micro-vibrations, which are the cause of the appearance of noise. Again, thanks to the special tread pattern, the noise from the tire rubbing on the road surface is minimized.
  • Lack of vibration on the steering wheel. As mentioned earlier, a layer of porous rubber runs along the perimeter of the tire. This material absorbs most of the vibrations that would normally occur in the wheels and are transmitted to the suspension.
  • Clean tires even off-road. Anyone who drives an SUV over rough terrain, especially in the off-season or in the snow, knows how dirty the wheels are and how difficult it is to wash them of clods of soil afterward. But with the Grabber AT 2, everything is much simpler - a self-cleaning function is incorporated in the tread pattern. This keeps the tread clean even when it's muddy.
  • Fast start and short braking distance. The car, on which the Grabber AT 2 rubber is installed, quickly starts from a place and does it without slipping. Besides, this rubber provides the SUV with a tight braking distance. The lack of slippage at the start and quick braking is an important advantage given that tires are mainly used on heavy machines.
  • Truly all-season tire. Thanks to the special tread pattern and the rubber compound, the Grabber AT 2 tires guarantee excellent handling. The tire behaves equally well on dry, wet, snowy surfaces. By the way, regarding winter use - Grabber AT 2 meets the standard for safe winter tires, which is confirmed by the pictogram in the form of a mountain with three peaks and a snowflake.
  • The Grabber AT 2 is not aquaplaning. That is why it demonstrates acceptable directional stability even on a wet road. The tread pattern towards the tire edge is formed by diagonal grooves. These grooves are positioned to push water out of the tire-road contact patch. Therefore, your car will firmly cling to the road if the asphalt is wet.
  • Fuel economy. The manufacturer Grabber AT 2 claims that the use of these tires can reduce fuel consumption by 10-20% of the standard consumption of other tires. Such bold claims are backed up by extensive tests carried out in the laboratory and on real-world roads. And since these tires reduce fuel consumption, it can be said that they are more environmentally friendly than conventional tires from other manufacturers.

Tire dimensions Grabber AT 2

As already mentioned, there is no shortage of off-road tires in America. The product is in demand, and therefore tires are produced in the United States and imported from abroad. To compete with other manufacturers in the off-road tire market, General Tire has introduced its Grabber AT 2 range in a wide range of sizes from 26.5 "to 34.8" outside diameter. That is, rest assured that you can buy these tires for most modern SUVs, vans, and light trucks.

What buyers say

The largest number of Grabber AT 2 rubber buyers live in the USA and Canada. However, this rubber is also supplied to the countries of Western Europe, where it is mostly installed on Mercedes Benz G-class cars. Almost all buyers of this rubber, first of all, note its durability, even with everyday use. Also, most buyers report improved handling in rough terrain, where the aggressive tread exhibits maximum grip.

Output

The Grabber AT 2 is a great rubber that you can buy at an affordable price. Verdict - we recommend buying.
