The Goodyear Excellence ROF tire is specially designed for high-speed modern cars. The tread pattern of the tire incorporates the latest safety technology, which maintains a high grip on wet road surfaces at high speeds. The deep grooves are specially designed to drain and absorb increased amounts of water.
Regardless of which side of the car the tires are on, the asymmetrical tread ensures rapid drainage of water through the interconnected channels. The new silica-reinforced rubber compound serves similarly. Due to the use of new polymers, the tire has increased grip on a variety of road surfaces under different weather conditions. Therefore, regardless of the weather, the driver will feel confident driving.
In this tire, two ideas are implemented that have significantly reduced the sound effect: firstly, this is the central part with rigid extended ribs and ribs made of side blocks, beveled at an acute angle, and secondly, the unique technology of double displacements of the Dual-Block blocks. The essence of this technology boils down to the fact that the sizes of the blocks of the shoulder area and the blocks of the inner ribs of the tread are in different sequences.
This arrangement of the blocks has significantly reduced the noise generated as the sloped blocks come into contact gradually with the road. In addition, the Goodyear Excellence tire was manufactured using a new design: the area where the tire contacts the rim provides a uniform fit, which eliminates further vibration. The frame has a special structure and consists of a progressive spiral top cover with a reinforced double layer located under the shoulder area. As a result, the tread adheres evenly to the road over the entire contact patch area. Shoulder "stabilizers" in the form of rigid and wide outer blocks and ribs provide quick feedback.
Security
Goodyear's consumer preference survey found that the main requirement for most high-speed car owners in Europe is to be in control of the car in the rain. To maintain traction in these conditions, tires must successfully remove water from the space between the tread rubber and the road surface. This effect is achieved in all tires by squeezing water into the tread grooves. But the faster the car goes, the more water the tires have to remove and the less tread rubber is in contact with the road. As the speed increases, the tires gradually lose traction, and the driver has less control over the vehicle, and the braking distance increases.
The Goodyear Excellence tread pattern features patented safety technology to maintain a higher level of wet grip at high speeds. The wide and deep grooves are designed to absorb and drain large amounts of water from the road surface. Regardless of which side of the vehicle the tires are mounted on, the asymmetrical tread pattern allows water to drain through all connected ducts.
With an optimized tread pattern that prevents aquaplaning, Goodyear Excellence tires can drain large amounts of water and keep the tread in direct contact with the road surface, providing improved protection against aquaplaning. In addition, the high-tech silica-reinforced Goodyear Best in Wet tread compound further enhances Goodyear Excellence's wet safety performance.
Thanks to the use of new polymers, the Goodyear Excellence tire provides improved traction on the asphalt in all road conditions and allows you to drive safely at high speeds on both wet and dry roads.
Comfort
The Goodyear Excellence tire has two ideas to reduce noise levels: firstly, it is a central zone with long rigid ribs and ribs made of angled blocks, and secondly, the patented Dual-Block Shifting technology. The essence of Dual-Block Shifting technology is that the sizes of the tread blocks in the shoulder area of the tire and the blocks of the inner ribs vary in different sequences. This arrangement of the blocks made it possible to significantly reduce the noise produced by the tire, since the beveled blocks come into contact with the road surface gradually, and thanks to the Dual-Block Shifting technology, the edges of the tread blocks do not hit the asphalt all at once, but one at a time.
In addition, the Goodyear Excellence model uses tire construction technology: in the area where the tire rests on the rim, the so-called "calibrator" (Constant-Gauge Chafer) ensures an even fit of the tire, which eliminates vibration.
Thanks to these new technologies, traveling with the whole family on a weekend or on a long business trip will become a much more enjoyable and quiet experience. The level of external noise has also significantly decreased. The Goodyear Excellence tire exceeds the new EU requirements (2001/43 / CE) for tire external noise levels, with a large margin. These requirements limit vehicle noise to 75 dB, and by 2007 to 74 dB. In the meantime, by “shoeing” the car in Goodyear Excellence tires, it is already possible to reduce the noise level by up to 70 dB.
When developing the new Goodyear Excellence tires, the engineers performed a series of "noise" tests in the company's state-of-the-art laboratory in Luxembourg. Under conditions of acoustic and physical isolation from all external noise and vibration, the frequency of the noise produced by the tire at different speeds and on different road surfaces is measured and analyzed. Extensive tests carried out are reflected in the design of the tire, which provides a higher level of comfort for people inside the car and reduces the level of external noise.
Controllability
The Goodyear Excellence tire also provides superior handling characteristics. The tire carcass structure includes a progressive spiral top layer with a double layer under the shoulder area. Due to this support, the tread adheres very evenly to the road surface over the entire area of the contact patch. All parts of the Excellence's tread interact with the road surface: for improved traction and handling, as well as for more even tire wear to extend tire life. Lateral "stabilizers" in the form of wider and stiffer outer shoulder blocks and stiffer ribs provide improved "responsiveness" to steering actions during sharp maneuvers and at high speeds, during hard cornering, emergency "rearrangements" and braking.
RunOnFlat
Goodyear Excellence tires are available as standard or with RunOnFlat technology, which allows the Goodyear RunOnFlat tire to travel at least 60 mph at a speed of up to 60 mph in the event of a puncture or drop in pressure so that the driver can safely get to the house or to the nearest service station.
Highlights of the Goodyear Excellence tire
- excellent performance characteristics, which are obtained as a result of the use of new modern technologies;
- increased reliability is achieved through the use of a unique frame structure;
- unique additives in the rubber mixture have increased the grip characteristics and increased the service life of the tire.
The tread has a non-directional asymmetric pattern, visually noticeable differences between the right and left halves. The inner part is made of softer material and has a large number of drainage systems. When installing tires on a rim, it is necessary to take into account the direction of movement of the car wheel.
