HANKOOK RA33 DynaPro HP2 is a summer passenger tire designed for off-road vehicles operating on roads with predominantly asphalt surfaces. The model was presented for the first time in the spring of 2013. Designed for use primarily on the road, the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 meets the increased requirements for rolling resistance and tire noise. In addition, special attention is paid to good grip on wet road surfaces and a high level of comfort. The RA33 range, designed for both original and aftermarket vehicles, mainly includes sizes from 15 to 19 inches, many of which are labeled XL (extra load), which denotes increased load capacity.
In recent years, Hankook has secured a strong position in the European tire manufacturer market by becoming an OEM supplier to leading automotive groups including Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche, VW, Hyundai. These achievements were also reflected in the opening of the Tekhnodom R&D center in Korea and the Teknotrak, a European winter tire testing facility in Finland.
As of 2019, premium tire manufacturer Hankook has been supplying the 19-inch RA33 DynaPro HP2 factory tires for the Hyundai Santa Fe. Excellent chassis tuning and good dynamic performance predetermined the choice of tires corresponding to the premium class of the car.
With the development of the Dynapro HP2, Hankook has, as always, paid special attention to the issue of driving safety. Thanks to the use of silicon-containing components and a tread pattern that has been especially carefully refined at the block level, wet grip (eight percent) and directional control are significantly improved.
Combined with a wide belt, the tire's ultra-wide profile guarantees an even distribution of ground pressure. This significantly improves dry braking performance (four percent), as well as overall handling and overall tire life. The high-strength tire, together with the central stiffening rib, guarantees precise handling and excellent steering response, even at high speeds.
The noise level of the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 has been reduced by an average of 4 percent compared to its predecessors, including by extending the shoulder grooves to the sidewall of the tire. It also had a positive impact on the overall feeling of comfort while driving.
Design features of the HANKOOK RA33 DynaPro HP2:
The South Korean manufacturer claims significant performance improvements for its HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 tire. The improved handling in the new generation model is achieved by optimizing the load distribution at the tire-to-road contact patch under various rolling conditions.
This technology, together with the increased stiffness of the tread blocks used in the tire construction, has made it possible to achieve a more even distribution of pressure from multidirectional forces at the moment of rolling, which led to a significant improvement in steering precision. Vehicle behavior at high speeds has also become more predictable. Optimizing the pressure distribution in the contact patch and reducing the deformation of the tread at the moment of rolling allowed to improve the braking performance of the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 tire and to increase its bearing capacity.
South Korean tire workers have improved the tire's behavior on wet road surfaces. The flat contact patch and four longitudinal widened grooves with increased drainage capacity significantly reduced the risk of aquaplaning.
Features of the tread pattern of the HANKOOK RA33 DynaPro HP2:
High performance drainage system
This model is characterized by increased resistance to aquaplaning, which is provided by a high-performance drainage system. The tread of the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 tire has four longitudinal drainage channels that serve as a kind of storage. Water from the longitudinal channels is discharged to the outside through a system of transverse channels. At the same time, they are located at a significant angle relative to the direction of movement, which significantly increases the rate of removal of excess moisture from the contact patch.
Rigid rib in the center
In order to ensure high rates of directional stability, South Korean specialists have equipped the tread pattern of the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 tire with an additional longitudinal rib directly in its center. Due to the absence of any tears along its entire length, this tread element is highly resistant to deformation changes. Thanks to this ability, the tire is distinguished not only by excellent directional stability at any speed but also by excellent handling.
Special "acoustic" slats in the shoulder areas
Among the mass of other advantages, the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 tire certainly has a low noise level. It is provided not only by the multi-step arrangement of the tread elements but also by special sipes located in the shoulder areas of the tread. In addition, they made it possible to impart a soft ride to the tire, which is ensured by a tighter fit of the blocks of the shoulder zones of irregularities on the road surface.
Stiff shoulder area
The specially designed shape of the radial sipes and drainage grooves in the shoulder area of the HANKOOK RA33 Dynapro HP2 reduces the tread movement under the influence of lateral forces in corners and when changing lanes on a straight line. This achieves the refined handling of an all-wheel-drive vehicle with a high center of gravity.
Expert Reviews:
- symmetrical non-directional tread pattern optimized for driving on asphalt roads;
- a rigid longitudinal rib in the center provides excellent directional stability at any speed, as well as perfected handling;
- the multi-step arrangement of the tread elements in combination with special grooves in the shoulder areas has significantly reduced the level of noise and vibration.
