GTH102

Recently, trailer tires of increased width are becoming more and more popular among freight carriers. These tires, in combination with the appropriate rim, can replace a two-wheel set. But, taking into account the standard sizes and taking into account the specifics of long-distance transportation, increased requirements are imposed on such trailed tires in terms of strength.

And in this short review, we will tell you about the high quality and extra strong extra-wide trailed tires - the Green Max GTH102.

Performance characteristics

Trailer tires for long-haul haulage are markedly different from the steering and drive tires used on the same long-haul truck. The main differences are that trailed tires must provide directional stability on the road, and in addition, must not create rolling resistance.

Another requirement for trailed tires is a good grip to ensure effective braking. The latter point is especially important given the fact that the trailer also has to be braked to stop the truck. And I must say that due to several design features, GTH102 tires fully meet these requirements.

Advantages

Excellent grip when braking. Thanks to the technological tread pattern of the tires, the braking distance is significantly shorter, both on dry and wet surfaces. Moreover, this advantage is relevant for both empty and loaded trailers.

The high degree of directional stability. One of the many advantages of the GTH102 is that it follows the trajectory of the tractor exactly. That is, the driver does not need to catch the car and steer, both on straight sections of the road and when cornering. This advantage greatly simplifies the driver's work.

Low rolling resistance. These tires, due to the not too pronounced tread, do not slow down the rotation of the wheel. As a result, the trailer hinders the movement of the truck less and fuel consumption is reduced. Many tire manufacturers today, directly or indirectly, claim to be economical. But GTH102 tires do reduce fuel consumption by about 10%. If modern tires produced by the Green Max brand are installed on the truck, the savings will be even more noticeable.

Wear resistance and durability. Due to the special compound used in the manufacture of the tread, and due to the design features, the GTH102 tires will last no less, if not more, than the majority of mid-price tires of Western production. In the end, it's not for nothing that the manufacturer of these tires gives them a guarantee of up to 90 thousand kilometers! By the way, this is one of the few tires in which the tread self-cleaning function is provided. That is, stones from the tread fly out and do not contribute to the destruction of rubber, as is usually the case with other tires.

We have listed the actual operational advantages, and now, perhaps, the main advantage - the GTH102 tires demonstrate an ideal combination of price and quality. To make it clear what we are talking about, we note that many tires presented in the middle or even in the budget price segment usually do not have such a high level of quality as the GTH102. Therefore, if you are interested in a practical purchase that will save money without compromising on quality, the Green Max GTH102 is exactly what you need!

How the Green Max GTH102 tires work

Until recently, there was no size 445 / 50R22.5 in which GTH102 tires are produced. More or less standard tires of smaller width were produced, which were placed on the corresponding disc. To ensure proper resistance to the mass of the trailer, two wheels per side have been and are still being installed on the trailer axles. This is a standard solution, which nevertheless has several disadvantages and, above all, poor balance of the paired wheels even when using the same tires. The low-profile wide truck tire solved this problem as the one-piece design is vibration-free and well-balanced from the outset.

Moreover, studies have shown that tires of these sizes are more efficient at dissipating heat. This is also a very important point since tires in the process of long-haul transportation, due to the long-distance and high speeds, are susceptible to overheating. Overheating, in turn, contributes to the destruction of rubber, due to which the tire's resource is reduced. In GTH102 tires, everything is different, since even with prolonged operation on high speed, the large width of the center rib in combination with the low profile dissipates heat and more intensively ventilates the running surface of the tire.

Attention. Along with the many advantages that non-standard sizes provide, there is one point to pay attention to. Before purchasing these tires, make sure your trailer is fitted with the correct rims. Otherwise, you may need to purchase discs with increased offset.

Since the tires are low profile and very wide, special requirements are placed on their design. In other words, these tires must be able to withstand high pressures without deforming. Therefore, in the construction of these tires, a radial carcass is used - this technology has been tested by time and in general has proven itself very well. The radial frame, in comparison with the diagonal one, withstands large loads and can withstand these loads for a long time, without compromising the integrity and tightness of the structure.

However, a single radial carcass is not enough for wide, low-profile tires for durability and reliability. These tires are additionally reinforced with longitudinally arranged metal belts. This technology is largely standard on truck tires developed by Linglong Tire. The metal belts run through the center rib and ensure the tire maintains its shape even under excessive loads.

In addition, the presence of metal belts provides uniform tire pressure over the entire contact patch with the road surface. This is an important advantage of the tires, as due to the uniform pressure, the tread is uniformly erased. Therefore, if the tread wears evenly across the entire width of the wheel, the tires will last longer than if the tread wears unevenly.

By the way, the tread is a separate advantage of these tires. Thermosetting rubber is used in tread molding. This is a special compound that retains the same degree of density in hot and cold weather. Although this is a new technology, Linglong Tire is actively using it in the production of its all-season tires. To make it clear what we are talking about, we note that most of the tires, even all-weather tires, become softer in the heat and harder in the cold. As a result, all-weather tires wear out faster in summer and crack faster in winter. But with the Green Max GTH102, the situation is completely different - these tires are equally flexible, regardless of the ambient temperature. More precisely, the tire density is constant at temperatures from 77 to 23 F.

Let's summarize

So, we told you about the relatively inexpensive, but guaranteed durable and reliable all-season tires. We are confident that these tires will be appreciated by all those who want to save money but do not intend to sacrifice the quality of their purchase.
