The Toyo Open Country H / T II tires replace the first generation Open Country H / T model. It took at least ten years to develop them, during which the engineers worked to improve the operational properties in several directions at once.

The wet grip of the Open Country HT2 has been improved by optimizing the tread pattern. The main drainage grooves - two straight and two zigzag grooves - use widening transverse grooves to quickly drain water from the contact area, thereby increasing the tire's aquaplaning resistance and stability when driving in rain or melted snow.
