The key feature of the Hankook DM04 truck tire, which distinguishes it from other similar products manufactured by the South Korean manufacturer, is its excellent adaptability to use on rough roads. This is due to the scope of application of those trucks for which it is intended. First of all, these are construction dump trucks, which often move on sandy and earthy soils. Its design is ideal for traveling on them under very high loads. In such unfavorable conditions for any automotive rubber, it demonstrates excellent reliability and long service life.
Reinforced construction
Much of the reliability demonstrated by this tire comes from its reinforced carcass structure. It is made entirely of steel cord, due to which it has a significant bearing capacity. On top of the frame is a four-layer belt. In addition to taking up all the space under the tread, it also has excellent durability. It is achieved through the use of a steel cord, from which all four layers are made. As a result, the tire is given not only good load carrying capacity but also exceptional resistance to mechanical damage.
Wide blocks in the center
The tread pattern of this tire contains three ribs made up of blocks. Each of these groups of tread elements is a separate functional area that performs a strictly defined range of tasks, which causes significant differences in their design. In particular, the central blocks are located perpendicularly, which, taking into account their massive dimensions, greatly optimizes the distribution of the external load, making it as uniform as possible. On the one hand, this improves the permeability on soil surfaces with a reduced bearing capacity, and on the other hand, it increases wear resistance and carrying capacity. At the same time, the numerous multidirectional edges available on the blocks provide a more reliable grip.
Small blocks in the shoulder areas
In contrast to the center of the tread, the blocks located in its shoulder areas are noticeably smaller, which is also due to the nature of the tasks they perform. They are designed to improve traction and grip on sandy and earthy soils. In the process of movement, the blocks, due to their polygonal shape, form numerous multidirectional adhesion edges. At the same time, the large distance between them allows the tread to quickly get rid of soil particles that accumulate in it, which significantly improves passability.
Main features of the Hankook DM04 tire
- Aggressive tread with lugs and open shoulder area improves grip and self-cleaning of the tread.
- Massive tread blocks and a special tread compound provide high resistance to cuts and punctures.
- The robust four-layer belt construction with a special protective layer ensures an exceptionally long casing life.
- Exceptional reliability and durability even under the most adverse road conditions, thanks to a very strong multi-layer structure of the frame and belt made of steel cord;
- Wide blocks of the central part of the tread increase the contact patch, optimizing the distribution of external pressure over it, thereby improving grip, increasing resistance to uneven wear, as well as carrying capacity;
- A lot of small blocks of shoulder zones allows you to confidently move on sandy and earthen soils;
- Excellent self-cleaning performance of the tread due to the large distance between the tread blocks.
- Reliable power transmission in mud and on construction sites.
- Open shoulder design prevents soil build-up. Using a mixture designed exclusively for unpaved roads prevents damage to the tread.
