After two years of development and testing, Apollo Tires is launching the new Apollo Apterra Cross for the country's growing compact crossover (CSUV) tire, the tire company said.

Apollo Tires has unveiled its new Apterra Cross tires for the compact SUV (CSUV) segment. They will be available in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (APMEA) markets.

Apollo added that the novelty was the first tire developed in India specifically for CSUV vehicles, and now has a capacity of 40,000 times per month in the country, and is expected to double this soon. During the development of the new tires, Apollo specialists studied the expectations and requirements of compact crossover owners, and the development was carried out by the company's R&D center in Chennai, India. The tires will be manufactured at a plant in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu state, and after they enter the Indian market, it is planned to introduce them also in Southeast Asia.

The new Apollo's tread patterns are designed to perform optimally in all conditions, and the company assures them that they provide optimal levels of comfort, including acoustic comfort, while still being durable enough to handle poor road conditions. The double steel casing improves puncture resistance, while the tread is made from a rubber compound with improved abrasion resistance, while the rounded contact patch is optimized for a smoother ride and less noise. In addition, the integrated block design and increased tread stiffness have helped improve handling and braking performance.

“The development of the compact SUV market at an affordable price has enabled many Indians to fulfill their dream and buy a car in this class, while we are creating a new segment in the tire market to seize new opportunities with tires specially designed for this rapidly growing market sector. - said Satish Sharma, President of Apollo in the APMEA region (Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa). “Since we are pioneers, we will have an advantage and intend to become leaders in a new segment.”

The Apollo Apterra Cross is the result of two years of engineering work from the Apollo Tires Asian R&D Center in Chennai. It performs well in all conditions and guarantees uncompromising performance even on rough roads, while providing a quiet, comfortable ride and increased durability. In addition, the Apollo Apterra Cross has a stylish aggressive design and is one of the nicest SUV tires on the market.

The high puncture resistance of the Apterra Cross is provided by a double steel belt, and the high abrasion resistance multipolymer rubber compound used for the tread ensures a longer service life. The rounded contact patch maximizes ride comfort. In addition, the tire design is optimized for better shock absorption, and the tread pattern developed using advanced modeling techniques provides low noise levels, high traction levels, and best-in-class handling and braking performance.

“The Apollo Apterra Cross OE homologation just a few months after launch confirms that our two-year effort to develop, test, and refine every feature of this tire model has not been in vain,” comments Apollo Tires President Asia Pacific East and African Satish Sharma. "The addition of the Apterra Cross to the Hyundai Alcazar standard equipment list will pave the way for us to lead the fast-growing C-SUV tire segment."
