The Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 ROF summer passenger tire, like the rest of the eagle line of the famous North American manufacturer, belongs to the Ultra High-Performance category, which guarantees exceptional grip on both dry and wet asphalt-concrete surfaces. They are mainly provided by a combination of an asymmetric tread pattern and an optimized rubber compound.

Active CornerGrip

One of the features of this model is the Active CornerGrip technology. Its main functional purpose is to provide maximum grip and stability when cornering, as well as when making sharp maneuvers. To do this, North American tire workers have strengthened the sidewalls of the tire, which have become more rigid. As a result, the contact patch retains its shape and dimensions unchanged in any mode of movement.

In this case, the rigidity of the sidewalls is different, since the asymmetric tread pattern used in this tire unevenly distributes the external load over the contact patch. This allows the vehicle to transition very smoothly to the active cornering phase while maintaining excellent directional stability. This makes the steering process much easier, especially when driving at high speed.

Multifunctional tread pattern

One of the key features of the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 ROF is its asymmetrical tread pattern, which is unique in many ways. First of all, these are six longitudinal ribs, five of which have a block structure, i.e. consist of many separate elements. They create a large number of traction edges during travel, thus ensuring maximum efficiency, both during acceleration and during braking.

The only one-piece piece is one longitudinal rib located on the inner side of the tread pattern. It is on this part of the tread that the maximum pressure falls during straight-line movement. Due to its high resistance to dynamic deformation and massive dimensions, this tread element allows you to maximize directional stability at high speeds, as well as significantly reduce the response time to the steering wheel. As a result, the tire's handling has become sharpened, and the car is easier and more pleasant to drive.

Among the other strong features of this model, one cannot fail to note the high stability even at high lateral accelerations. This is the merit not only of the rigid sidewalls but also of the design of the shoulder areas of the tread pattern. They contain many massive rectangular blocks, the long sides of which are at right angles to the direction of travel. On the one hand, this made it possible to maximize the deformation resistance in the transverse direction, and on the other, to achieve a significant reduction in the braking distance.

And, of course, one cannot fail to mention the traditional strength of all Goodyear summer tires, such as grip on wet roads. This model is no exception in this regard. What's more, the Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 ROF has a superior wet grip even when compared to Goodyear tires. This was achieved through a combination of an optimized tread design and a special rubber compound. However, first things first.

As mentioned earlier, five of the six longitudinal ribs of the tread pattern of this tire are characterized by a block structure. Due to this, the tread has an incredibly developed drainage system, saturated to the limit with transverse channels. This allows it to handle huge amounts of water from the contact patch with ease, providing excellent resistance to aquaplaning at speeds where most other tires will simply lose traction.

Another factor that provided this model with exceptional grip on wet asphalt is the rubber compound, or rather, some of its compositional features. In particular, it contains some polymeric compounds and silica, thanks to which a reliable and stable adhesion to a wet surface is ensured.

Speaking of the rubber compound, one cannot fail to mention one more feature of its composition. It contains a soot filler, of which, in general, a civilian tire contains the same amount in a rubber compound as in tires used in motorsport. This significantly increases the resistance of the tread to abrasion, which significantly extends its service life.

- rubber compound with a high content of soot filler and silica, due to which the tire demonstrates excellent abrasion resistance and maximum grip on wet roads.

With all this, it took only one turn to understand that the new Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 ROF G2 RunOnFlat has a completely different level of technical properties. The most obvious change is steering response, with the tires reacting almost instantly to any driver input, which is why some drivers say the new Goodyears are more track-like than road tires. The apex traction was truly impressive and noticeably better than the previous generation. Traction control was even less frequently engaged during high-speed cornering, and the traction under hard braking was also very confident. In general, with the new tires, there was more contact with the road surface, which makes the ride more confident - and this in turn increases the overall speed.

Judging by the data obtained, the new tires allow for faster acceleration, slower deceleration, and, in general, maintain a higher speed during cornering and when driving in a straight line.

Verdict:

The original Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 ROFs continue to perform well.

That being said, the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 ROF raises the bar even higher and will initially be available in a limited number of sizes for key models. The new tires do an excellent job of meeting the toughest demands of today's SuperCar G:2 ROFs, explaining why Goodyear chose to put the word SuperCar G:2 ROF in their name. This is truly the next generation of SuperCar G:2 ROF tires today.
