Toyo Proxes Sport A/S is an all-season sports tire offering short braking distances on wet and dry surfaces, while also offering improved cornering stability and mechanical and acoustic comfort.

Designed to replace the Proxes T1R, Proxes 4 Plus, and Proxes 4, the Toyo Proxes Sport A / S tires were introduced in 2020. It is noteworthy that the manufacturer focuses on the handling of the model on dry and wet roads, but its handling in winter conditions, wear-resistance, and fuel efficiency is assessed by him himself only by three points out of the maximum five. Something had to be sacrificed.

Developed with Nano Balance technology, the Proxes Sport All-Season tread compound contains silica, which provides a reliable grip on wet road surfaces.

The five-rib design creates more even pressure at the contact patch, says a Shina Guide technician. This contributes to improved braking and handling, as well as increased stability when maneuvering.

The tapered slots in the center section of the Toyo Proxes Sport A / S tread are designed to improve traction and steering response. Wavy sipes throughout the tire's life prevent uneven wear and improve performance on light snow.

Rim guards help protect these unique all-season UHP tires from damage.

High-speed handling and wet grip are the most important characteristics for drivers of powerful cars. Proxes Sport tires meet these requirements while providing a comfortable ride and a long service life.

The new rubber compound of Proxes Sport tires is developed with Nano Balance technology and provides the most effective grip on dry and wet surfaces. The use of state-of-the-art technologies in the carcass structure and the improved tread pattern give precise and predictable steering responses, allowing you to enjoy your driving experience 100%.

The asymmetrical arrangement of tread elements

As you know, the process of movement on different parts of the tread of the tire is different in content impact. This is especially evident at high speeds. It is for this reason that the developers preferred to use a tread pattern with an asymmetrical arrangement of elements, from which several functional zones are formed.

In particular, the inner side of the tread is "sharpened" for maximum performance during deceleration, preventing the occurrence of aquaplaning and protecting against uneven wear. In turn, the outer part is used to improve grip and handling when maneuvering and cornering.

Inner tread design

The structure of the inner side of the tire tread is characterized by the presence of several longitudinal ribs. Due to the absence of breaks, these elements are characterized by high rigidity, which further improves the efficiency of the blocks in the shoulder area. This design shortens the braking distance and, when maneuvering, optimizes the distribution of external pressure over the contact patch.

In addition, there are two very wide drainage grooves in this part of the tread. This is enough to prevent aquaplaning from occurring even at high speed.

Features of the design of the outer side of the tread

During the development of the tire, much attention was paid to ensuring the fastest possible transfer of lateral acceleration forces to the power components of the carcass. For this, a whole range of measures was used, applying them mainly when creating a tread design. Its outer side contains very large blocks. Moreover, those of them that are located closer to the center of the tread are united into groups by rigid bridges that limit their mutual mobility. This design, among other things, significantly increases the size of the contact patch, which further improves the handling characteristics of the tire. Most of them are traction when maneuvering, braking, resistance to uneven wear, and fuel efficiency.

Wide longitudinal rib in the center

For the sizes of this model with the largest tread width, the Japanese manufacturer offers it with a modified design of the tread pattern. The main difference is the presence of a double longitudinal rib in the center. The main functional purpose of this element is to further increase stability and controllability when driving at high speed.

Key features of the Toyo Proxes Sport summer tire

- the highest productivity thanks to the asymmetric tread divided into functional sections;

- rigid, but at the same time very light due to the use of synthetic materials, the frame;

- additional longitudinal rib in the center for tires with the largest tread width.
