Sumitomo Tires, the premium export brand of Japan's Sumitomo Rubber Industries, has added the new Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 ultra-high performance all-season tire to its product portfolio.
Designed for a sports coupe, high-performance sedan, and crossover drivers looking to maximize their vehicle's capabilities, the new product delivers superior all-season grip, excellent handling, significantly shorter braking distances, and longer tread life than the previous generation HTR A/S P02 as well as improved fuel efficiency. According to the manufacturer, the new generation A/S P03 tire outperforms its predecessor, the Sumitomo HTR A/S P02, in ride comfort, wet braking performance, durability, and winter grip. At the same time, the tire still retains high braking performance on dry asphalt, as well as a reduced noise level when driving.
Sumitomo HTR A/S P03's unique tread pattern reduces the risk of aquaplaning. The 3D sipes provide optimal road contact, improve traction with multiple cutting edges and prevent uneven wear.
The tires have an optimized tread design of the Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 has been redesigned to reduce tire profile deformations when cornering for better handling and improve stability. The design includes curved lateral drainage grooves with an innovative fin design to reduce the risk of aquaplaning and provide better drainage for improved wet weather performance. Zig-zag 3D sipes with Miura-Ori technology reduce block deformation, improving all-weather handling and traction in challenging weather conditions while reducing block deformability for optimal handling. Criss-cross sipes and diagonal sipes improve road contact to maximize grip in winter conditions.
The tread compound with a high silica content provides excellent wet grip and increased wear resistance. The reinforced structure increases the durability of the tire life, while the durable one-piece bead reinforces the stiff sidewall for improving the exceptional cornering rigidity.
Sumitomo's tire for sports cars, sedans, and crossovers is entering the North American market. The new Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 is available in 75 sizes from R15 to R20 for speeds up to 179 mph.
