PARALLER MT

In this short review, we will tell you about the PARALLER MT off-road tire. Why this particular tire model and not another? The reason for this is the affordable price of these tires and the attractive driving characteristics declared by the manufacturer.

Who produces

The Chinese company Shandong Linglong Tire Co., Ltd is today one of the largest Asian car tire manufacturers. However, this manufacturer is little known outside of Southeast Asia for a number of reasons.

In connection with the promotion to the European market, Linglong Tire founded the Atlas brand, which produces tires for the Western market. PARALLER MT tires are manufactured by the Atlas brand, but in fact, are Linglong Tire products aimed at Western buyers.

About tires in general

Atlas Paraller MT is an off-road all-season tire for light trucks, SUVs, and other off-road vehicles.

The tires are primarily designed for driving on dirt roads and rough terrain. These tires are also suitable for use on asphalt roads, but you should not expect optimal handling and driving comfort.

The tires are characterized by an aggressive tread pattern. The lug blocks are staggered stepwise. This arrangement provides a higher coefficient of friction on different surfaces regardless of weather conditions. Sharpened side lugs also increase traction on loose and unstable road surfaces.

Tires are designed for a wide range of vehicles, but these tires were primarily developed for pickup trucks and light trucks used as commercial vehicles. Therefore, Atlas Paraller MT tires are designed to withstand loads of up to a ton per wheel.

About driving characteristics

As stated, the Paraller MT is an off-road tire. M / T stands for Mud Terrain. And since the name refers to mud tires, it can be assumed that these tires are adapted for off-roading. Indeed, the purchase of these tires can be recommended to owners of not only light trucks but also powerful heavy SUVs.

The tire is narrow, which, combined with the aggressive tread, provides extra grip. The tread literally crumbles the ground, digging into it with blocks of lugs. According to customer reviews, these tires do an excellent job on such problematic surfaces as dry and soggy ground, gravel and sand embankments.

The car starts with these tires practically without slipping. The tires are scooped up through the mud, and therefore it will be possible to overcome the muddy soil in the off-season without fear of getting bogged down in it. With the onset of winter, the tires provide acceptable off-road handling characteristics. Powerful aggressive lugs dig into snow and ground.

On clean asphalt or concrete, the car's handling is not as good on these tires as it is off-road. Due to the pronounced tread pattern, the tire creates rolling resistance on the asphalt. Again, due to the pronounced tread, driving on asphalt is noisier than when using ordinary summer tires with a tread height of up to 10 mm.

All-weather characteristics

Paraller MT tires have been designed with all-weather and all-weather applications in mind. However, the optimum temperature range at which the desired performance is achieved is 77-23F. If you keep within this temperature range, these tires will not only provide acceptable ride characteristics but also last longer.

The fact is that in the stated temperature range, rubber does not soften in summer and does not wear out faster than it should. Conversely, in winter, rubber up to 23F does not harden or crack. At temperatures above 7F, the tread wear becomes more intense, the rubber wears out twice as fast as on ordinary summer tires. At temperatures below 23F, the tread loses its original elasticity, and therefore the braking distance increases, while the acceleration dynamics decrease.

The conclusion is as follows. Paraller MT tires are an excellent choice for use in temperate regions where there are not too hot summers and too cold winters. If you are using your vehicle in these conditions, these tires are exactly what you need. If the summer is too hot, we recommend purchasing seasonal summer tires. If the winters are freezing and open ice on the roads may recommend buying snow chains that will provide acceptable traction.

Driving comfort

Paraller MT tires are off-road tires with a pronounced tread, so it is logical to assume that this rubber is quite noisy. Indeed, the tires are noisy, but the noise is heard outside the car. The noise inside the car on these tires is about the same as on other all-season tires. Riding on these tires is quite soft compared to other budget all-season tires. Therefore, given that these tires are purchased for trucks, driving is quite possible to call it comfortable.

Design features and manufacturing materials

The good thing about Linglong Tire is that it doesn't copy tires from more well-known manufacturers. Not all tires, including Paraller MT, are proprietary. The production of these tires was preceded by intense work during which the prototype tire was rolled in different climatic conditions. And only after the manufacturer was convinced that the tire demonstrates acceptable running characteristics was it launched into production.

In order to achieve optimal cross-country ability, an asymmetric tread with strongly pronounced lug blocks was used. The lugs slide smoothly into the tire sidewalls for added traction. Since the tread is aggressive, the manufacturer has taken care of the self-cleaning function. The tread blocks are located in such a way that particles of gravel and soil in the grooves of the tire are almost not retained, but are thrown by centrifugal force already at a speed of 35mi / h.

Paraller MT tires, like most of Linglong Tire's products, use a combined carcass, where synthetic belts are intertwined with metal ones. The combined design of the radial carcass makes this tire not only stronger but also lighter. This advantage is very important given that an off-road tire designed for trucks is not the lightest in itself. By the way, thanks to the use of a combined carcass, these tires are not only durable and lightweight but also perfectly balanced.

That is, you may be able to do without wheel balancing.

And finally, what are these tires made of? To tell you the truth, there is nothing super-tech here. The composition of rubber includes more than two dozen ingredients, including artificial rubber, silicon dioxide, and various resins. The selection of the ingredients in the rubber is made in such a way that the tires provide acceptable handling all year round. However, these tires, as already mentioned, ride well in the temperature range from 77-23F. The rest of the time, the performance of these all-season tires is no longer optimal.

Let's summarize

For whom do we recommend the Paraller MT tires? First of all, we recommend these tires to those who pay for quality and not for a well-known brand. In addition, these tires are highly recommended if you intend to use them in an area with mild winters and not hot summers. And finally, we recommend these tires to those for whom they fit the size of the rims.
