At the same time, some standard sizes are marked with a speed index T, which indicates the outstanding capabilities of this model.
The tire is equipped with an S-shaped symmetrical non-directional tread pattern. In the very center of the tread, there are two rows of very small blocks, spaced at a minimum distance from each other. These blocks form a double longitudinal rib, which provides excellent directional stability of the Barum SnoVanis tire.
The tread blocks, also located in the central part of the tread, are characterized by massive dimensions and a configuration resembling a quadrangle. These blocks are located at an angle relative to the direction of travel, which significantly increases the traction characteristics on slippery surfaces.
The shoulder areas of the tread also consist of separate blocks located transverse to the direction of travel, which significantly improved the braking efficiency. In addition, the shoulder zones are distinguished by a low-radius profile, due to which it was possible to significantly increase the contact patch area, simultaneously ensuring optimal load distribution, which, in turn, increased the tread resistance to uneven wear.

The tread of the winter light-truck tires Barum SnoVanis 3 remained symmetrical, four-ribbed, but of a completely different structure. First, the two center ribs now consist of slightly V-shaped blocks. Secondly, the circular channels have changed their shape: diagonal bridges have disappeared but figured bridges and depressions have appeared, which more effectively remove liquid and snow slush from the contact spot, minimizing the risk of slash planning and drifts. Thirdly, the shoulder zones of Barum SnoVanis 3 became smaller, which increased the cross-country ability on dirt and snow, the semi-closed shoulder blocks provide good performance because the optimal tread stiffness and uniformly distributed external pressure are the keys to equal and long-term wear, clear response to control commands and stable trajectory of movement.
The flat profile of the Barum SnoVanis 3 tire is abundantly dotted with three-dimensional sinusoidal lamellas. When in contact with the surface, they open up, increasing the contact area and improving the quality of grip.
